ABOUT
At Art School in the late 60’s and early 70’s my main focus was sculpture, since then I have explored painting to a greater extent.
I have been fortunate to have exhibited my work, participating in several group shows and having several solo exhibitions in the UK and abroad.
The challenge of making meaningful objects and images is a constant quest. Constructed form and image are fascinating, consequently the edge between illusion and the physical is often blurred for me. In much of my work I attempt to hone a skill and develop an idea using the formal elements of structure, composition, tone, colour and surface. However, observational rigour and emotional response are my main concerns as is creating a balance between sufficiency and spontaneity.
In curating this site, a process of selection is inevitable in order to be representative of my development over several years.
